USA AT A GLANCE

𝗖𝗔𝗡𝗔𝗗𝗔 𝗔𝗧 𝗔 𝗚𝗟𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘

Most of the North America region consists of three big countries and one large island territory. They are Canada, the USA, Mexico, and Greenland. And, there are also Central America (with seven countries), the Caribbean (with around two dozen countries), plus one isolated French territory (Saint-Pierre and Miquelon - off the Canadian Atlantic Coast). We have split up our travel guides, so we'll primarily be referring to the major countries of North America here.

BEST TIME TO VISIT

𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗧𝗢 𝗩𝗜𝗦𝗜𝗧 𝗨𝗦𝗔

The United States of America spans six different time zones from the west coast to the east coast. You could imagine how huge is the size of this beautiful continent. Because of its massive size, there is always a great destination for every season in the USA. So, the best time to visit this country depends on what you like to see and do.
.
🔸 𝙎𝙥𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜 (March to May) is the mark of a warm season. It is generally a good time to explore the USA from coast to coast. During these months, the weather is getting warmer in most places, and daylights are also getting longer. It is one of the most beautiful seasons when spring flowers are blooming beautifully everywhere. If you are a cherry blossom lover like me, visit Washington DC in early April when it’s literally pink with Sakura. It’s a magical sight to enjoy. Summer is the most expensive season to travel in the country due to many people traveling these months.
.
🔸 𝙎𝙪𝙢𝙢𝙚𝙧 (June to August) is the peak season and busiest month in most North American regions. The warm weather and more extended daylight are perfect for many outdoor activities. But humidity could be a challenge in the south part of the continent.
.
However, please note that hiking in some places in America during the hottest summer months could be dangerous. Always pay attention to the weather, climate, and humidity before doing any outdoor activities.
.
See whales in their natural environment is another unforgettable experience for both adults and kids alike. Summer months are considered a peak season to encounter these intelligent mammals in many places in the USA. Some of the best whale-watching destinations are North Cape Cod-Massachusetts, Juneau-Alaska, and San Juan Islands-Washington.
.
🔸 𝙁𝙖𝙡𝙡 (September to November) is another shoulder season and great months to travel across America. Again, the weather is still pleasantly warm and comfortable for outdoor activities and sightseeing. The summer crowd has left. Thus prices also drop to a more reasonable point.
.
Fall is one of the most vibrant seasons where foliage changes color to vivid yellow, orange, and red. The view is spectacular. Some best places to experience fall foliage are New England, Colorado, Maine, and most places on the eastern coast. Follow fall color trackers to make sure you get there in time at peak color. Autumn is my favorite season of the year, especially during fall foliage. And leaf pepping is my favorite activity. Yes, leaf pepping is a thing.
.
Aside from hiking and enjoying outdoor sports, apple picking can be a family activity too in the autumn. Another great thing to do in the fall is finding giant pumpkins in pumpkin patches across the USA. Kids could have fun in the corn mazes, riding farm tractors, and having delicious homemade apple pies.
.
🔸 𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙚𝙧 (December to February) is the perfect time to hit some slopes for skiing, skating, snow tubing, dog sledding, ice fishing, and other winter activities. The northern part of the continent is the best place to have winter getaways.
.
Some ideas for fun family winter activities are building a snow fort, make a snowman, tobogganing, make a snow angel, or have a snowball fight. Winter hiking could be fun too. Be sure to bundle up and wear proper winter attire. All of these activities are only fun when you stay warm outside.

𝗠𝗨𝗦𝗧-𝗧𝗥𝗬 𝗙𝗢𝗢𝗗𝗦 𝗜𝗡 𝗨𝗦𝗔

The United States of America is home to some most prestigious food cultures. One of the joys of traveling through the USA is discovering the diversity of food that is available. Each region, state, and the city is boasting its own set of unique flavors. Here are five must-try foods in the USA while in the country:

.

The most common clam chowders are New England white Clam Chowder, which includes milk or cream; Manhattan Red Clam Chowder, which contains tomatoes; and Rhode Island Clear Clam chowder, which omits both.

.

𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙚𝙘𝙪𝙚 𝙍𝙞𝙗𝙨 - Originated from America, these succulent and smoky barbecue ribs have become one of the most famous dishes in the world. Barbecue ribs can be made from pork ribs or beef ribs. Barbecue pork ribs are the traditional barbecue of a large portion of the United States. Pork is the obvious choice because it tends to be juicier on the bone, allowing the meat to come right off after the grilling process. The secret to great BBQ ribs is grilling, in which the meat is cooked long, slow, and at a low temperature. The ribs are repeatedly smothered with a spicy barbecue sauce, which eventually provides a luscious and spicy external layer. Hmm, yummy! Where to find the best BBQ ribs in the US? Killen's Barbecue (Pearland, Texas), Bogart's Smokehouse (St. Louis, Missouri), Franklin Barbecue (Austin, Texas), Arthur Bryant's (Kansas City, Missouri), Big Bob Gibson Bar-B-Que (Decatur, Alabama), Bludso's (Los Angeles, California), and more.

    • 𝘾𝙝𝙤𝙘𝙤𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚-𝘾𝙤𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙙 𝘽𝙖𝙘𝙤𝙣 - Bacon + chocolate = the ultimate satisfaction. It's typically served on a stick for easier eating.
    • 𝙆𝙚𝙩𝙩𝙡𝙚 𝘾𝙤𝙧𝙣 - regular popcorn popped in a large iron kettle, then mixed with a bit of salt and sugar/honey/molasses for an addictive flavor.

WHAT TO PACK & WEAR
